Will I have surgery on the same day as my consultation?Your consultation appointment will always take place on a different date than your surgery for a variety of reasons. First of all, not every condition will require surgery. Hooray! Some of the conditions that we see can be addressed with less invasive treatments. If surgery is suggested or required to treat your condition we have to reach out to your insurance company to request coverage for the recommended procedures. This process can take anywhere from 30-90 days.
-
What testing is required prior to my surgery? Some patients will require a Visual Field test that will be performed by our Medical Assistant at our main clinic in the Medical Center. This information is required by insurance companies in order to receive authorization for certain procedures. Our doctors may also request advanced imaging tests such as EKG, MRI, or CT scan. Once surgery has been approved by your insurance plan we require all surgical patients to have a bloodwork panel taken within 2 weeks prior to surgery. Specifics regarding your surgery will be discussed during your consultation appointment with our doctors.
-
Will insurance cover surgery to fix my heavy eyelids?Every insurance has slightly different standards that they take into consideration when assessing surgery coverage for heavy eyelid repairs. During your first appointment with our doctors they will discuss your specific eyelid anatomy and whether or not your insurance is likely to deem the procedure medically necessary. Ultimately, your insurance company has the last say in whether they will approve coverage of your procedure.
